The goal of heifer reproduction management is to raise heifers to reach a desired age and body weight early so they initiate puberty, establish pregnancy, and calve easily at a minimal cost without sacrificing animal health or welfare.  The goal of this section is to:

• Recognize how cows and heifers differ when it comes to reproduction.
• Understand the heifer’s reproductive cycle and factors that directly influence their reproductive performance.
• Identify management barriers to high fertility.
